LG... Life's Good
There's a first time for everything... So here's my first ever blog. I always thought about starting one, but never really thought I had anything interesting to talk about. But I guess now with all the traveling I'll be doing with PokerNews, I might
I'm Lynn, the latest addition to the PokerNews video team. We just finished up at the 2009 World Series of Poker in Las Vegas. It was my first gig as a hostess for PokerNews, which was one hell of a dive in the deep end being an international poker tournament noob.
I first fell into the poker scene working for Crown Casino in Melbourne where I thought I had learned a lot about poker while taking care of the marketing for Crown's flagship poker event - Aussie Millions. It was when I hit The Rio in June that I quickly learned otherwise. Knowing about Australian players is one thing, but I must admit, Google was my best friend for a while as I frantically tried to learn who was who.
With Crown being the only casino in Melbourne, and staff not being allowed to play, I arrived in Vegas as a live-game-virgin, so as you could imagine, I was dying to get on the tables. My first ever taste of a live cash game was a nice tame session of $2/$4 LH at M. I bought in for $100, at one stage was up about $60, then down about $60, and walked out with $102... At least I wasn't in the red! I told you it was tame...
I couldn't leave the States without throwing in a visit to New York and San Francisco. In line with probably 99% of all females who have the chance to visit the city... I am proud to say... I New York.
So here I am now back in Melbourne, after making a stop in the stunning San Francisco and incredible New York City, as an official blog owner. My next gig is at my old stomping ground, the Victorian Poker Championship at Crown. I'll be covering the State of Origin and Main Event for PokerNetwork, so make sure you check it out!
