WSOP November 9, Sponsorships, Poker agents

August 07, 2010 2 comments

It's been a long while since I updated this blog, but here it goes;

As we all know there's been a little thing called the WSOP going on in Vegas and 'boy did stuff happen!

I think the single one player everybody had their eyes on was none other than Annette Obrestad - and one would have to say that she somewhat lived up to the expectations with her 4 cashes, with one of them being the 11th place in a $1500 NLHE event.
After the WSOP she also cashed (35th) in the WPT Bellagio Cup, so all in all I think she's satisfied (although she always wants to win naturally)!

Now, I'd like to take a minute to (once again) call on the other poker agents and ask for a fair fight when we do battle over players signatures during the WSOP.
I have nothing to complain about, my agency did very very well - in fact we came out on top of all poker agencies, but if we (poker agents) are to be taken seriously - some agents need to get their sh** together!

I won't go into details, you know who you are and you know what you did...
I have no idea how on earth they expect to be in this part of the industry long term with behavour like that...

My poker agency managed to sign 2 of the players (long before they reached the final table) who's going back to fight it out in November and we are all looking forward to this..!

The players are Matt Jarvis (Canada)

and Filippo Candio (Italy)

On a final note; 2 weeks ago we also managed to secure Denes Kalo, Hungaries #1 money earner, a deal with Full Tilt Poker - congrats, Denes!

I promise not to be this late with the next blog Smile

3 more players secured sponsorships!

May 06, 2010

As I mentioned in my previous blog, we have now secured 3 new Poker Icons a sponsorship deal!

The players who have signed with Titan Poker are:

Sam Trickett (UK)
One of the most respected new breed players hailing from the UK.
Sam's got several big scores both inside the UK and internationally, and we'll be seeing a lot of him in the future!

Jonas Klausen (Denmark)
With more than $2M in online winnings and $850 000 in live winnings (including a WSOP 2009 $1500 NLHE 2nd place finish) Jonas has quickly emerged as one of Denmark's finest players.

Yann Brosolo (France)
A massive online player who's now also making his mark on the live scene. Expect to see this young phenom do well in the near future!

We also signed one more sponsorship deal, but this has not been announced yet - stay tuned!

Player sponsorshipped!

May 01, 2010

It's been a good couple of months now!

We managed to secure sponsorships to a a nice group of players.

Most recently Annette Obrestad signed a massive deal with Full Tilt Poker, and we also got Van Marcus as a red-pro with the same outfit.

These deals were secured just weeks after Dragan Galic joined Team Party Poker where he's teaming up with none other than Mr. TonyG! That happend just a week after we got Alex Kamberis a deal with Doyle's Room.

Last but not least, I'll be revealing 4 more deals after the press release has gone out pretty soon! Smile

Stay tuned.....

(oh, ya..Monte Carlo was great! €40 for a bottle of Coke and all (cheers) geeeez)

Getting ready for Monte Carlo

April 16, 2010

First I'd like to congratulate Pokernews on being part of creating the success "The Big Game"!

Ok, so Monte Carlo, ey?
One of my favorite places..how can anyone not like Monte Carlo?

I mean, if you are able to ignore that everything cost x2 from elsewhere it's great!

I'll be meeting most of our players there, and hopefully this year we can score even better.
Last year we had 6 of the final 24 players, but nobody at the final table...

Annette came closest when they got it in with 2x average and his 9's cracked her aces with only 14 players left :/

The event is held at Monte Carlo Bay, a 5 star place sitting right on the beach.

Sometimes I just got to take 1 step back and understand how blessed I am to be able to work as a poker agent in these enviroments..! If any of your guys are down there - feel free to nudge me.

Oh, btw...stay tuned. Today we signed a m a s s i v e deal for one of our players. (EDIT: Read about it here!)
It will be announced during the event in Monte Carlo.

Alex Kamberis picked for Brunson 10!

February 24, 2010

Finally! We got Alex Kamberis a sponsor!!

And not only did Alex get a sponsor, but it was Mr. Brunson himself who handpicked him to his team.... (I talked about it a bit in one of my earlier blog postings)

Alex is already an online legend, and now we are going to see much more of him on the live scene as well...move over - this guy is the real deal!

Congrats Alex, well done!

So I Made the BLUFF Power 20 List

February 04, 2010 1 comments

WoW! I'm honestly surprised! My name appeared on the BLUFF Power Top 20 list - and if I'm a little inaccurate I can take credit for being the only European there (Mr. Tony G is half Australian and half Lithuanian).

Here is the complete list, and I have to say that it's very rewarding to see that ones hard work is appreciated and noticed. I'm not about patting my own back, but you know..at least here is something I can show the wife and maybe she'll feel better for having to go to bed all alone those nights.

1. PokerStars
2. Full Tilt Poker
3. Mitch Garber
4. Howard Lederer
5. Ty Stewart
6. Doyle Brunson
7. Barney Frank
8. Daniel Negreanu
9. Tony G
10. Joe Cada
11. Phil Ivey
12. John Pappas
13. Mike Sexton
14. Mori Eskandani
15. Brian Balsbaugh
16. Lance Bradley
17. Joe Sebok
18. Barry Shulman
19. Matt Savage
20. Per Hagen

Needless to say, making this list would be impossible without having the priveledge to work with such great players and partners!

A call from Doyle Brunson....

January 28, 2010

I think we can all agree that Doyle Brunson is the #1 poker legend, so what would it mean if he called you for a chat?
Well that's exactly whay happend to one of the players I represent, and needless to say I think my player really loved it :]

Doyle is really involved in the building of his "Brunson 10" and it seems he loves the hands on approach. It genuinely seems that he is really looking for the talents that one day could replace him (in a long long time), and obviously a player cannot help but to feel honored to be even considered by Mr. Brunson.

By the sound of things, the call went very good - and who knows......maybe we'll see an addition to the Brunson 10 soon (smile) (edit: Wanna know how it turned out? Read about the result of their phone call here)

Did I Just Got Scammed?

December 20, 2009

Well, "scammed" is a very serious allegation - but it feels like it.
Things are not always rose red in the poker industry, and you have to pick your partners with care.

Story goes something like this:

Some 1 year ago, I made a deal with someone who wanted to start a poker school.
My end of the deal was to provide them with some coaches, general advice and in addition they bought 50k e-mail adresses to poker players (who had opted in).

I delivered the players, I delivered the e-mail adresses and I gave them helpful advice.
In the beginning they kept their end of the agreement, but when their newly started poker school met some bumps on their way to richdom, they decided to stop paying not only me, but the coaches as well! They also stopped communicating when we tried to get some explainations, and months went by between each response.

The players I had recommended starting as coaches with their school chewed on my ass, I tried to get a hold of the owner of the school, but he either directed me to some external CPA or told me "will take a look at it and get back to you asap". This was not the same attitude he/they showed when they initially came to us wanting help building their school!

Needless to say, as a poker agent it's very very important to have a solid and trustful relationship to my players - and although I'm sure the players that were screwed in this particular case understands I'm not to blame, I take great pride in delivering what I promise my players..and basically I am willing to go to great lengths to do so.

HERE IS THE KICKER OF THE WHOLE STORY;
Right now I have really turned up the heat in an attempt to get the school to make good, so now they are really fast at responding, but their response is this: We are trying to sell the school, and untill that's done we can't be bothered to take a look at this. When it's sold, we can discuss further.

So basically they are using MY players (some of the most prominent out of their coaches), MY e-mailing list and MY advice to sell this school - but they have no intention of ever making good (it seems). All they want now, is to avoid negative publicity - so they can sell it and cash in.

As you might have noticed I have avoided naming the poker schools name, but that will be the next step (in addition to other things). I see no reason why I should not reveal the schools name, the people behind it and everything.

Do you?
