Sunday Recap, 2nd is pretty good!

April 11, 2011 1 comments

Had a good tournament Sunday Online tournament day, it was look pretty sketchy early on but hung in there and played pretty well. Min cashed in the 6x multi $1.5m which was disapointing with 3 decent stacks near the money. But the first 100r saved the day with a 2nd place finish for $55k! Usually it is disapointing not to win, and it was a little bit but with 3 tables left I was near the bottom of the pack going all the way into the final table. Then tripled with AK v QQ v 99 and got back into it.

I will try and post a video recap looking at some of the hands in the tournament. There were some interesting ones along the way and its good to review and see how you played.

Apart from that had some tasty food being prepared for me during the day, which musta made a big difference! Starting to cook a lot more in the kitchen and so far the last few meals have been awesome!

Check out the Super Size Me Article if you haven't already, and see what kind of combinations you can list on ChipMeUp for the upcoming SCOOP / FTOPS and WSOP !!

Switzerland & Poker Invaders game

April 02, 2011

So I have been playing the new Iphone game called Poker Invaders, which is currently free in the IPhone App stores at the moment. Ive been playing it from the start and its very cool, kinda like tetris / space invaders / poker Smile

Anyway I made a video whilst I was in Switzerland skiing , of just how addictive I thought the game was ! Check it out ,

Switzerland was awesome fun, especially the skiing, Went to Zermatt home of the famous Matterhorn which is featured a lot in the background of the video. The chocolate was obviously delicious as was the fondue. Skiing on the Swiss Italian border meant you could ski into Italy for lunch, Felt like Homer Simpson hopping across borders Smile

Anyway check out PokerInvaders, its free for now and there are some cool PokerInvaders freerolls on Full Tilt !

Big sporting month

March 30, 2011

So my last post was about the World Cup Soccer (Football) in South Africa. I have been very slack updating my blog but I will try and do better! So the Cricket World Cup has been going on for the last month, I haven't been able to watch many of the games being in a non-cricketing country. However I have been able to follow it on the internet, and found some places to watch the games.

Anyway the World Cup is in the sub-contintent, and not surprisingly the sub-contintent teams are dominating. My team, Sri Lanka, have made it in the finals. The only downside of Cricket is the seedy world of sports betting and match fixing that surrounds the game. Its the way that boxing was irreversibly damaged. Watching the India v Pakistan, semi-final on at the moment reach its final stages. The way that Pakistan has played you have to wonder if there wasn't some players on the take. Anyway Sri Lanka will take on India in the World Cup final most likely, in one of the biggest televised events. Unfortunately no one in the US cares Smile

March Madness however is something that has been huge in the US, and this time around I have been watching a few more games. If Arizona had made one of the last 2 3s in that super close game, I probably would have won my bracket competition for almost $3k, tho im still in with a chance, and regardless the basketball has been very entertaining. Last 2 years in the bracket comp I have finnished dead last, so this is a welcome change. I did watch Glory Road this week, which was an entertaining film about the first College Team to field an all black team, which went on to win the NCAA championship.

Cmon Sri Lanka, beat India in the world cup final in India ! On a side note Harbharjan Singhs thanks to his gurus was hilarious. Thanked many people ending in baba jis.

WSOP wrap up

July 30, 2010

So after cashing in the final event b4 the main event with a 53th place amongst 2000 players, I was feeling good about the WSOP main event. However it all went wrong and for the first time in my Main Event history I was out on day 1. Very disapointing and then on top of that most of my friends didnt do well either. Gbecks from ChipMeUp whom I had a piece of ended up making it to day 6 which was a great effort. One day we are going to get some CMUers on the final table !

Anyway South Africa at the world cup was awesome and I was glad I left vegas to go on such a great trip. Saw 6 games did a bunch of safaris and traveled across the country! Got a bunch of stuff stolen but u win some u lose some.

You get so close to some of the animals its crazy !

WSOP early days

June 13, 2010

So far ive played 4 events so far in the WSOP all small NL events. Event 1 , I got off to a decent start in the $1k event considering not many chips. Played lots of hand, however made a tuff call with 2 pair on 9c-7c-5c flop , but my opponent already had the flush. Events 2 and 3 I played for a long time making it almost to the end of the day and very near the $, but lost with AA both times all in pre, which was obv disapointing. Event 4 , I was out early had durr on my table who went onto come 2nd in that event.

Now im off in South Africa watching the world cup, go Australia ! Today its Germany v Aus in Durban, last nite we went to the fan fest in Durban which is on the beach. Basically its a lot of people on the beach watching games on a big screen, african music and lots of fun!

Ill be back in Vegas in a few weeks to play more WSOP events, looking forward to the $10k PLO and Main Event. I dont think Ill play the $25k event may be next year.

Wats been happening

April 07, 2010

So I haven't been blogging much lately. What have been up to ? Umm, I went skiing
in Canda that was awesome. Also went curling, which was great after watching a bunch
of it during the winter olympics. Deceptively hard especially the sliding across the ice thing.
Shame there arent local curling rinks around the place.

In my quest for more bizzare olympic sports, I also went clay pigeon shooting where I think
I might have hit more birds flying in the background than targets.

Pokerwise I had a couple of final tables in the UB $200k and FT $150R on the same day
which was sweet. I recorded a video for the FT $150R which will appear on PokerNews
Strategy, so keep an eye for that when it launches soon.

Other than that have been playing PLO, and seem to be getting better at that which is exciting.
Good to break up tournament play with some cash games.

Hoping to take a shot at some of the high stakes PLO games, watch for action being sold on
ChipMeUp. High Stakes PLO!

Snowmen and PLO

March 01, 2010 1 comments

So I went to bear valley, and ended up making my first snowman , aka pocket 8s. Apparently
a snowman is supposed to have 3 balls to it, but then it wouldn't look like the number 8 so
my snowman looks pretty blobular. The snow also is frigging heavy..

Also ive been trying to get back into PLO, I like the game except I usually play at limits that
are too high for me Smile Last week I managed to come out ahead slightly which was encouraging
because I felt I wasn't really that lucky and I also made some mistakes which can be remedied.
Definately a game prone to massive tilt and hence swings.

Top set loses over two runs, the first time i even make quads on the turn ! Certainly a lot
more action than NL Holdem. Unfortunately PLO tournaments are not quite as fun as cash
games, as you need to be able to reload. But with the rebuy chip format they use now, it is
definately better.

FTOPS and the Winter Olympics

February 16, 2010

Havent played as many FTOPS events as usual but thus far it is has been pretty disapointing, busting
out pretty early in everything. Today came 2nd in my shootout heat, but really there were only 5ppl so
thats neither here nor there. Anyway I still have a few more events to play may be there is some FTOPS
gold in store to come.

Im off to do some skiing this weekend, being from Australia you would be right to assume im not very
good as I only started skiing last year for the first time, and saw falling snow for the first time as well.
Since skiing, I can now at least really appreciate how hard some of the stuff the winter olympians do.
Annoyingly they make it look so easy, anyway hopefully I come back in one piece.

Still the Winter Olympics is the Summer Olympics less cool younger brother. They even had to reschedule
it so the Winter Olympics would get some extra attention. I do like that Australia's best Winter athelete is
Canadian. He was too lazy to train with the Canadians so he just moved to Australia and of course we took
him in with open arms. One of Australia's greatest Winter Olympic moments was this instance. You
don't have to be the best to win ! Kinda like poker I guess.

Classic !

So...The Future is now?

February 11, 2010

Anyway I haven't posted in this Blog or any other Blog since May 09. I like to Blog more than that, but
usually my blogging frequency is inversely proportional to how busy I am. Therefore when I don't
have anything interesting to write about, I start blogging and vice versa. To be honest I actually
haven't been that busy but what are you going to do?

Lets skip over 2009, so onto 2010 ! I don't know about other people when I write 2010 as a date, It
seems more like the future then the present. By now we supposed to be driving in cars that flew, planes
that could drive. Instead we still have bikes peddlers pulling people along. In fact these seemed to have
increased in popularity! No one is going to the moon anytime soon which sucks. Also the guy that was
working the on the car that could fly actually died in his invention so that also has put the Fifth Element
future on hold for a little longer.

But what about Poker? 2010 has seen the creation of Rush Poker. Really this has been one of the
most innovative things in the online poker world in sometime. The idea you can just churn threw the hands,
does make it feel like your playing a slot machine but really your are playing poker and skipping the boring
bits. And unlike the movie Click, skipping the boring bits in poker is not such a bad thing. Please don't watch
Click as the only thing that movie makes you wish, is you had the remote to skip perhaps one of the most
annoying films ever. But anyway Rush poker is quite awesome, may be its just a novelty but anything
different is exciting.

Pokerwise in 2010 Ive played the Aussie Millions, in ... Melbourne, Australia. That was pretty disasterous
but fun anyway. Since Im Australian I can say that the locals arent the best poker players, so more people should
really ad the Aussie Millions on their schedule. Anwyay, Melbourne is pretty aweseome in January with the tennis going on, some good weather. I love eating at Kokos, a cool (but expensive) Japanese restaurant and also went to the Melbourne Zoo.

Apparently butterflies land on stripey hats.

its a horse!
its a horse!

In the world of online poker, so far 2010 has been pretty productive, good results in the 100RB and some other
tourneys. So with FTOPS on again, thats promising. Anyway thats a long enough post , adios
